Miroslav Lesichkov

The workshop, sword and buckler in hand, is focused on the application of fundamental principles concerning understanding of priorities and actions in the bind. The examples are applicable for a wide variety of one-handed cut-and-thrust weapons and different types of bucklers.

Biography
Miroslav Lesichkov is a professional HEMA instructor teaching sword, sword and buckler and longsword. His School of Historical Swordsmanship Motus has started in 2003 as an experimental group dedicated to the study of the medieval European fencing tradition. The group was later transformed into a club to become a school in 2010. Since 2017 Motus’ students have been active participants in HEMA tournaments, bringing home medals in various disciplines.
As a school and a university student Miroslav Lesichkov has practiced various martial arts and combat sports, such as boxing, Shotokan karate, Aikido, Katori Shinto Ryu kenjutsu, and modern fencing. He completed his service in the army in 1991 as a platoon commander with the rank of junior lieutenant.
Mr. Lesichkov has held numerous seminars, demos and lectures at Sofia University, the American Research Center in Sofia, the National Military History Museum and other national museums and institutions. In 2014 he consulted the National Institute of Archaeology with Museum for their exhibition: Tsar Samuil (+1014) in Battle for Bulgaria. In 2016 he was invited as a consultant and instructor for handling close combat weapons in the Bulgarian cinema production Voevoda.
Mr Lesichkov has held seminars and workshops in Greece, Romania, Turkey. In 2015 he was a guest instructor at the Xth edition of the Western Martial Arts Workshop in Racine, USA. He is the organiser of the Motus Summer Training Camp – an international HEMA event held on an annual basis in Bulgaria and the only HEMA event in Bulgaria so far. This year it marks its 13th anniversary.
