Managing short measure without entering in close quarter combat.
In the short measure, the longsword can be used for close quarter combat techniques like half-swording and grappling; however this is not the only option we have at our disposal.
In the case of unarmored combat, we can make use of other methods which expose us to fewer risks, remembering that we would be holding a sharp weapon!
